I came up with a better way to add some height to the lathe. 6" to be exact. This time I glued and screwed some 1.5" slices of 4X4 to another 4X4 and added some peices of 2X6 for the feet. It is much more stable now! As you can see there are some 2X4's for cross peices and some 3/4" plywood for the shelf. Below is a closeup of the new feet for the lathe.
